FAQ · For Families
When should I hire a doula?
You can hire a doula as soon as you know you want one. Many families book during the second trimester, and some wait until the third. Earlier booking gives you more choices, because popular doulas fill their availability months ahead.
Second trimester is common
Many families hire a doula between weeks 12 and 20. This leaves time for prenatal visits, birth planning, and getting to know each other before the due date approaches.
Earlier is easier
Doulas take a limited number of clients per month so they can be on call for each birth. Booking early means more doulas are available to choose from.
Late pregnancy is still possible
If you are further along and just deciding, reach out anyway. Some doulas have openings close to a due date, and even a few prenatal visits can make a difference.
Start with a consultation
The best first step is a consultation. Ask about availability around your due date, how many clients the doula takes, and how backup coverage works, then decide together.
