FAQ · For Families
How does a doula support my birth partner?
A doula supports your birth partner by showing them how to help, giving them breaks, and offering reassurance. The goal is a partner who feels confident and included, without carrying the whole load of labor support alone.
Coaching in real time
During labor, the doula can quietly coach your partner on comfort techniques, positioning, and words of encouragement, so they can contribute in ways that genuinely help.
Covering for breaks
Labor can last many hours. The doula stays with you while your partner rests, eats, or takes a walk, so support is never interrupted.
Reassurance and confidence
Partners often feel anxious about doing the right thing. A doula offers reassurance, normalizes what is happening, and helps your partner stay calm and present.
A team approach
The doula is not there to replace your partner. The two of you work as a team, each with a clear role, so you feel surrounded by support from people who care about you.
