FAQ · Certification
Is the certification recognized everywhere?
Recognition and credentialing requirements for doulas vary by organization and location. There is no single universal standard, so it is best to verify what your local market, hospital, or employer expects. Contact Black Pearl for current information about the certification and how it is recognized.
No single national standard
Doula credentialing is not governed by one national standard. Different training organizations, hospitals, and community programs each define their own requirements and recognition.
Check your local market
If you plan to work in a specific hospital, region, or program, ask directly what training and certification they accept. Requirements can differ from one facility to the next.
What certification demonstrates
Black Pearl certification demonstrates that you have completed structured training in support skills, advocacy, cultural competency, and business fundamentals. It is an education credential, not a healthcare license.
