When should I see a provider for menopause symptoms?
The Office on Women's Health advises telling your healthcare provider about menopause symptoms such as hot flashes or trouble sleeping, and seeing a provider to rule out other causes for missed periods or if you have not had a period for a year and start bleeding again. Your provider is the right person to evaluate symptoms and discuss treatment options.
Symptoms worth mentioning
Hot flashes, night sweats, trouble sleeping, mood changes, and vaginal dryness are common menopause symptoms that may affect your daily life. Mentioning them lets your provider help you understand your options, including lifestyle approaches and, where appropriate, medical treatment.
Changes that need evaluation
See a provider to rule out other causes for missed periods, and if you have not had a period for a year and start bleeding again. Any new or concerning symptom deserves a conversation with a qualified healthcare professional.
